Saturday sewing

Had a lovely day yesterday with Tania, lots of chatting, very nice lunch and I even managed to get some sewing done! Am attempting some little quilts, I found 4 great fat quarters at Pick up Stitches in Kyneton, so thought I would stack and slash and see what happened

I am pleased with how they turned out - need to get some fabric for the borders now to make them a little bigger.
Received a bag of knitted squares from KOGO last week so have put the first lot together, this one went together easily, now and crocheting the rows together, then will crochet around the edge. Like the colours in this one, last year I had fluro orange pink and yellow!
Also started on this panel last Wednesday, have decided to hand quilt around the fish kites so far will se how it goes. Now I need to get on and get some of these things finished!! :-)

Playing

Finally got my act together and tried out the Magic Art

Put the glue on yesterday, waited until today, then rubbed the foil on and this is what happens! It even stuck where I got the glue in the wrong place!! :-) LOL!! Can't show the full quilt here - is for a challenge this year and will be unveiled in December. As this has taken me two years so far I had better get on with it!! (Sad to say it is a panel, no complicated sewing here!!) Now I am motivated!!

Playing

Had a little play yesterday with some wool rovings I think they are called and tried to do some felting - thought I would put some little beads in with the wool to see what would happen - they all fell out!! :-) Have to work on that one!

Interesting to see what happens with the wool.

Goodbye

We went to the airport last night to take Adam ( No 1 son) to get his flight to Munich - he will be away who knows how long....heading off to have a look at Eastern Europe first then England - exactly what his mother did many years ago but it is still a wrench!!!

Safe and happy travels Adam!!

Yellow tailed black cockatoos

Some visitors to the garden last Friday, there were 8 of them in the hakeas when I drove into the driveway. Beautiful (but noisy) birds.

Post card

I received this beautiful postcard from a post crossing woman in the Ukraine - I just love it!
Would love to have a look at those books!
Off to make corn fritters for lunch! Bye for now. :-)

Secret sewing

Some secret projects are under way in the sewing room but I can't say much because they are secret!!!  :-)  One to be finished by June the other July...best get on with it me thinks!!
At least it is better sewing weather today, not so hot,
French braid quilt made last year (I think) now needs it's butterflies attached and finished off, I think I made a mistake here, I used wadding and then put a fleece fabric on the back to make it cuddly, but it is now very heavy and it is supposed to go to New Zealand! Mmmmmm.....

butterflies ready to be ironed on

secret stuff to have a play with!
Bye for now!
