Happy sewing

Today Tania and I have been to a charity sewing day up at Macedon, organised by Kerrie of Black Forest Quilting and her sewing group...we have the choice of 4 patterns to make or we could go along and work on something we already had happening. There was a sumptuous feast for every eating time of the day, morning tea, then soups and bread rolls for lunch, followed by my favourite pavlova (Yum!!) and fresh fruit.....sorry no food photos because I was too busy eating!! Lol! Then later in the afternoon there was more in the way of cake, sponge, slice, for afternoon tea!! We were very well looked after!!  And I even got a little sewing done!!
star quilt relaxing!!

this had a name something like flowers...sorry can't remember

this one was made using a layer cake, lovely!

this was made with a new fusing product that you can run through your printer, print on the shapes, then you cut them out and fuse to the fabric, the attach to the backing fabric...love the stained glass effect
Tania placing her fabric on the design wall.......she has surprised me today by using bright colours, mostly Kaffe Fasset and some batiks!!

 sewing piling up!.....

more happening.....

busy quilters at work.....

Tania back at the design wall....

my central piece of the Star quilt....wouldn't know I LOVE batik's would you!! Lol!

busy sewers again....

Yep...here we are!  We had a great day, didn't get as much sewing done as I had hoped to, but there is always this evening to continue on....
This is roughly pinned but the first point section is finished, a big flying geese block I am told!! I was impressed....but then not so when I was told the seams are all stretchy so handle with care and pin every inch, and sew slowly! My sewing supervisor checked it over for me and gave it the sniff approval! Lol!

Cutting....cutting

Today has been a preparation day for a sewing day Tania and I am going to on Saturday, I have chosen to make the big star quilt so need 180 squares and 40 triangles...a challenge to me with that kind of cutting!!! I can also show the Winter Wonderland Quilt I have been working on, it is a panel, I have added sequins and beads, some pearl beads on the snow flakes, and gold foil paper rubbed onto the gold pieces to highlight. I have hand quilted around the Santa and animals and around the border. I am still thinking of putting some words on the bottom....still a WIP!!

cutting, cutting.....I am working with pink and purple shades of Batik fabric with white in the corners...

and the left over bits have been cut into 2 inch squares ready to be made into hexies...how organised  is that!!!

and even better No.1 son is cooking dinner!! Yippee!!!!

Yarn bombing

I went for a walk Monday morning to the St Leonard's shopping centre and found that someone had yarn bombed the trees and some poles along the road - it took me a little while to realise that it was for Christmas!! Nothing slow about me!! Lol!!

Love this wavy one!

Ballarat Wildlife Park

This morning I left Gisborne in the sunshine and arrived in Ballarat in low cloud and drizzle!! What a change! I took the toy voyages to the park so one could achieve a mission, which was to have kangaroo experiences! Easy to do here!!

Mum and bub!

this was the first time I had seen a red kangaroo close to the fence, their faces and eyes are quite different to the gray kangaroos.

So peaceful!!
Happy days!

Visitors

We have been getting sightings of a fox at our place, it quite happily wanders past the back door, but runs away when the dog is out and about and "barks" if that is the right word, almost trying to get the dog to follow it.....today I found out why....it has babies!!!! I know they are a pest but they are so cute!!!!
The Chow is thwarted, he can't get through the fence,  the fox is behind the climbing frame,

now it is watching us.....

here are the little ones just before they hid behind the tree

something got their attention!!

Monday madness

Today I have used

Gardening

It is such a beautiful morning I thought I would go out and do some gardening until DH said if you go in the garden wear gumboots or thick socks and runners....DO NOT put your hand into the weeds/plants until you have thumped around with the spade....mmmmmmm.....not so keen now!! So.....
I have the runners and thick socks on....might as well take a photo of them....and then as I have the camera out might as well take some photos in the garden .....this is the best time of the year...everything is growing and flowering...well except for what the rabbits are eating!!!!

even the black berry is flourishing!! Lol!

and now that I have had a little play I guess I should go out and actually do something!! Will be on the look out for the bitey things!!
Have a great day!
