Woo Hoo! A finish!!

The  "Collingwood" quilt is finished, labelled and on it's way! I had  to squash it into the box, I thought putting the fluffy throw on the back was a good idea until it came time to fold and pack and boy was it a squash to get it into the box!! The air got a little blue around here!!
here is the back of the quilt

and the front.

Oops, I have done something wrong with this photo but never mind, this is the laundry bag I made for the same service man, apparently the washing is put in the bag, the top tied and the whole lot goes in the washing machine and then the dryer and then back to the person who owns it. The normal bags are green, blue or brown (from memory) so imagine trying to find your washing in a whole heap of the same colour bags!! This is a lot easier to find and much more personal. There are a heap more pictures at the Aussie Hero Quilts and laundry bags blog to have a look at. Some people have made amazing bags!

And my poppies are off in the post to 5000 poppies today a little contribution to their large project!

and now I am off to fix up these little bits of fabric that have ended up on the wrong side of the raggy seams quilt,

little suckers were a bit hard to control!! Lol!!
Happy sewing!

52 word photo challenge

This week, week 6, the word is flow...I thought about water, rivers, creeks, then ran out of time to go and find one.  I was in the garden last evening working away and thinking about the word flow, originally I wanted to do something about go with the flow, but that didn't work out, then I thought of ebb and flow, really more to do with the sea, then money popped in to my brain, that ebbs and flows into my wallet, at the moment it is mainly an out flow...hence this picture!!
Hee Hee!!

You can see the other FLOW photos over at Alsha's Place.

Busy afternoon

I have been busy sewing a raggy seams quilt, it came in a precut pack and I thought would have gone together really easily, mostly it did but the little cut edges had a mind of their own and didn't always go in the direction I wanted them to!
One raggy seams quilt, still have a couple of bloopers to fix underneath.

We had a couple of early morning visitors, I had to go out and tell them off as they were chewing on the window frames and tapping on the windows....

I told them the restaurant was closed!

A lovely package arrived this morning from the lovely Barb from  here , I love these buttons and had to get some after I had given in to temptation and bought the magazine below!!

Yum, yum!!

So now something else to add to my do to list!!

Love the reindeer,

and the pre printed label has arrived to put on the Collingwood quilt so will get to that tonight. Well I had better get back to fixing the Raggy seams quilt,
Happy Sewing!

52 word photo challenge

Week 5 of the photo challenge and the word is Open. The first thing that came to mind was a book, an open book is very inviting to me, I can't walk past it, and there I manage to lose hours!
You can pop over to Alsha's Space to see the other open photos for this week.

Nearly a finish

I Have been working on the Collingwood quilt this weekend, I have done the quilting, actually I found that quite hard wrangling the fabric through the machine...anyway I got it done, laid out the quilt on the dining table, measured it up for the binding, twice and then a third time, only to discover I had made it too long!! Ahhhh!!!! The quilts for  Aussie Hero Quilts  have to be a certain size! Woops!! So the top and bottom are going  to be chopped off!! Problem solved!!
Pinned and ready to go!

Working on the quilting, I cannot believe how much fluff this black fabric picks up, every time it brushes on the wadding it comes away with white fluff!!

It is worse than dog hair and to be honest there is probably dog hair on here too!! Lol!

Moving down to the 'under the flag' area.

Done and ready to bind......but it is too long,

now it isn't, it has been chopped!!!!

Binding on and ready to hand sew on to the back and then I begin the mammoth task of getting all the fluff off!
And of course the supervisor is still on the job!
Happy sewing!
