Happy Birthday Chook shed

Happy birthday Chookyblue well the chook shed really!!
Cheers!

Blocks, blocks and more blocks...

Ready to go!

Cup of tea and special chooky mug rug just for today! No not for you Shez!! Lol!!

The supervisor has taken up his position under the table....I sewed and sewed and unsewed when the points didn't meet up! Phew! That was a few I can tell you! The last one I unsewed......and sewed back together and then look at what I did!!!

Bugger!!!! Put it on the wrong way around!! Doesn't look very star like does it!! Oh well, back to the unpicker and try again!!

Yay!! Finally have 12 star blocks finished. I have found two other mistakes on the brown blocks - not sure how to fix them now - maybe I can just feign ignorance??

Am happy with the horses though, I think they look good.

Ok! I am off to pour a G & T now and then maybe to do some hand sewing by the fire! Hope the party is in full swing at the chook shed - you can pop over there to see what is happening.
Cheers!

Celebrating at the chookshed

So. today the Aussie Hero Quilt is sandwiched, quilted and has binding sewn on one side, ready for the hand sewing, which I might start in front of the fire tonight!
This afternoon I am going to start preparing and cutting material for another quilt, a horse themed one I was supposed to make for my nieces 21st, which I am embarrassed to say, was two years ago!! This weekend I am joining up with Chookyblue  to help celebrate the second birthday of the chook shed. You can see who else is joining up and getting the champagne chilled over at Chooky's blog. I am hoping to get lots of sewing done on this quilt this weekend.

Well, had better head off and get sorted~!
Happy sewing.
Sadly this wise lady is no longer with us, I am sure she is in a happy place dispensing her wisdom.

52 weeks word photo challenge

Why is it that when I sew, be it on the machine or by hand I always end up wearing THREAD? - this  is our word for the week on Alsha's photo challenge. Today I am working with blue fabric, sewing with blue cotton but the THREAD I had on my jumper was white??? One of life's little mysteries!
You can see the the other THREAD photos here at Alsha's Space or maybe even join in and post a THREAD photo of your own!
Happy sewing.

How true is this!

Just found this on fb - struck a chord with me!!
Have a great day!

More Blocks

I managed a few more blocks this afternoon once I dragged myself away from the book I am reading!!! Four more blocks and now I am playing with how the quilt will go together.
Hee hee!! Had to include some sharks!!

Surfer blocks..

This is the layout so far, now I see the photo I don't like the pale blue surfboard strip, looked ok on the table!! Maybe I should repeat the green/blue strip instead? Any suggestions?? Now the strip looks purple/blue!! Oh dear! I think it has to go, but am open to suggestions. I really must to the caveman tracing tonight as I got distracted last night and it didn't happen!
Happy sewing!

Mill Rose Friends

Yesterday was our second meet up at Ballan at Mill Rose Cottage for the year and we had a wonderful day, lots of laughing, chatting, eating (lunch was wonderful again, not to mention afternoon tea!!! The orange and passionfruit cake was to die for!!!) The swap was a set of  three sewing things and as always it amazed me the things these wonderful women make and how different the ideas are!
Sadly the "City Girls" couldn't attend this time as they were on a retreat, but Tracee came up with an idea of how we could take them with us!!
and we had them photo bombing all over the place!! I am sure Marina, Elyte, Annie, Ann and Robyn felt quite at home!!
Everyone enjoyed opening their swap parcels - there was loads to oohhh and aahhh over!
And as usual the paparazzi was in action!!

It was lovely to meet Helen in the flesh, so to speak, I have followed her blog for a while - she is as lovely in person as she is one her blog! Helen was blown away by the swap she received from Shez, such beautiful stitcheries!

These are the three sewing set items I received, they are from Anne, I LOVE purple so they are perfect for me! There is a thread catcher, pin cushion and block keeper! Just beautiful!

Evidence that Tania did a little shopping! And some stitching!

The happy gathering.

Tracee getting to some stitching just before lunch!

Some serious menu viewing going on here - what to have for lunch!! The "City Girls" came for lunch too!

Yes Shez!!!! The old me taking a photo of you taking a photo of me trick!!! Lol!

There she is a bit fuzzy because I was giggling while trying to take a photo, Shez is such a lovely lady, I think we all start smiling when we see her - I know I do!! She is a happiness fairy - must remember to take her a set of wings next time!! Lol!!

Tania enjoying her lamb pie for lunch - very nice I was told, meanwhile I was tucking in to a bowl of chips! Yum!!

Here are the "City Girls" busily checking out the swaps for the day,

Marg stitching on her bag- looking forward to seeing this one finished. No pressure though Marg!!

And the lovely Shez, you could not ask for a better friend!
And I have pinched photos from Shez's blog when we decided to photo bomb a photo session - I hope you don't mind Shez!!
We did let you get your group photo eventually!! Lol!! Looking at this makes me laugh !!
Another great meet up! Thank you all for a wonderful day!
Happy sewing!

FNSI

Well my Friday night sewing didn't really happen I got a little done, but then No 1 son and his lovely girlfriend arrived and said they were cooking dinner - no argument from me!!!! They did a wonderful job and after dinner we watched a DVD together.....most enjoyable evening. My sewing is secret sewing so I can't show you a lot, just a little....Lol!!
Was lovely to have even a little time with the other Friday night sewers!
You can pop over here to Wendy's to see what other Friday nighters got up to.
