Relaxing Sunday

Today was a slow day for me...I was woken at 4.30am by  my phone beeping....just to let me know the battery was going flat....oh joy!!!!! I did manage to clean out three kitchen cupboards, but then decided it was getting too hot for that kind of activity, so laid on the couch and read a book!!!!! Much better!! Lol! In the afternoon I visited a lovely friend in Riddells Creek...have a look at the clouds coming home
I was hoping for some rain but no they have floated on past......
I have done a little on my stitchery....blogger has decided to turn it sideways but you can see some progress here. Love the Barb Smith designs.
Happy sewing.

A Day of Play

Today we had the best day playing with Barb Smith ( of Theodora Cleave) and Karen from Mrs Martins quilt shop.....they are the such fun people.....was at a table with Miss Naughty (she even had a label  to that effect later in the day) lol!!! Also
the lovely Mel ,  Ondrea , and of course the sensational Tracee and Cheryl at the head of the table....someone had to keep order!!
Tracee and Mel settle in

Guess who is checking out the goodie bag and playing with it??

Shez and Ondrea

Lovely ladies ready for work/play
Some people are working, others are not.......no names mentioned though! ! Lol!

Mel decided after she had wiped her brush on her apron pocket, that we could all have a go and it would be a reminder of the day....Barb leaves her mark....

as does Shez
some of Barb's beautiful display and wonderful ideas...many beautiful Christmas ideas

love these too

could not resist these stitcheries.....

and look at all this yumminess here

Tracee and Mel get down to work

The two S/Cheryls....Ondrea giving them a bit of a touch up for the photo!!

and I am pleased to say that on this occasion Shez got some work done.....hee hee....
I took two photos just to prove it....lol......teasing you Shez!!!
I asked Shez to take a photo of Tracee and myself......well do something silly she said...not an ordinary photo.....

sadly we were too busy laughing to be able to do much else that laugh!

here Barb is instructing us on the fine art of making a bonbon...I am pleased to say mine does kind of resemble a bonbon!! If you squint!!

further instruction
I had the best day, played with paints and paper and inks and stamps, with wonderful fun people and came home with many treasures.

These are my goodies....fabric that has been painted, felt I have stamped that will go as a background to Barb's beautiful buttons, tiny stitcheries from Barb's drawings, buttons, a decorated linen bag, tags.......my bonbon...lol!!

And this beautiful button was in the goodies bag from Barb.....all in all a wonderful fun day, thank you to Karen for all the organising and to Barb for her instructing and fantastic ideas and to the lovely ladies on our table for all the laughter and pleasant company.
Happy sewing.
P.S. I forgot to say Shez gave me a jar of her special jam. How lucky am I!! Thank you Shez.

Cleaning, cleaning.....

Well most of the morning was spent cleaning, the vacuum cleaner has had a massive work out this last couple of weeks, things have been washed and polished, I have even re stitched a part of the curtain that had come undone......the photographer for the real estate agent has been and gone and now we can relax!!!!!! I sat in the sun and read for a while, then went down the street to do some messages, came home and read some more, then traced off some stitcheries,
These are from Barb Smith

Oops, sorry this is the wrong way around....they are from a beautiful little booklet of Barbs drawings.....tomorrow I am off with the lovely Tracee to A Day of Play with Barb Smith....lots of buttons, glitter, paint and goodies to play with....should be a wonderful day....and Shez and Mel will also be there! I can feel a day of fun and laughter coming on!
Happy sewing.

Lovely day

Hasn't it been a great day....I got to spend some of it in the garden..... I was pruning the roses and didn't have my glasses on....I saw a bit of rose that was a different colour....so got the glasses and camera and found it was a huge stick insect trying to look like a branch, did a pretty good job of it too...
I am thankful I didn't cut it by mistake...
The supervisor was on standby....I am not sure what for....lol!!

I finished this lovely stitchery last night, just need to sew on some more beads and then decided what to do from there.
Hope you have had a great day.

Special Brew

Today I got onto the Internet and looked up natural rabbit deterrents.....as the one who sits on the couch isn't deterring much! Lol! So now I have a brew brewing on the bench...garlic, chilli water and dish washing detergent.....leave to brew for one or two days and then spray on the things you don't want the rabbits to eat.....apparently they do not like strong smelling things......I must have uneducated rabbits as they are eating the rosemary and lavender and they are strong smelling to me........we shall see what happens....

Here is the brew

and I hope these are the plants I can save

Wednesday group tonight so I off to pack my bag...and not forget to take my stitchery like I did last week!
Happy sewing.

Semaphore Beach Adelaide

We have been for an afternoon outing to the beach...it was sunny this morning but not so good this afternoon
Looking to the west

And to the east....tides out, but people are swimming and walking and enjoying being out and about

Playing on the jetty lol!!

Saw this amazing house down the street in Semaphore had a tennis court out the back and very formal garden at the side

these guys were in the window  of the local, chiropractor ......waiting for Santa I think who was on the table having his back attended to!! How cute are they??
Back home now and I have dragged out the hexie quilt to do some work on
Happy sewing!!

Mission accomplished! !

I started on this quilt in November last year at a sewing day at Mount Macedon.....finally got the quilt finished, got it quilted and sewed on the binding and then put it on a chair.....because when I sewed on the binding I noticed the seam on one of the triangles had pulled out when it was being quilted.  With having to pack up at home and going away for the weekend I decided to get my act together and get it done. So during this weekend I have done the hand sewing on the binding, except for one part where the backing was caught in the quilting and had to be unpicked and re done! Didn't check very well when I put  on the binding did I!! This morning I have also appliquéd on a replacement triangle to cover where the seam pulled out......one of those  jobs I have been putting off because it was too scary!! Well the points are not crash hot but it is done and once  on the bed it wont be noticed anyway...she says hopefully!!!!

Pinned in place...now to nervously stitch

binding nearly finished

triangle in place...a bit lumpy and bumpy but I am ok with that
Nearly all done....only taken 12 months! ! Lol!
Happy sewing.

Craft and Quilt show

Today my lovely host Angie has taken myself and her Mum to a craft show at a local church.....you wouldn't believe the weather today,  it is heaving down rain and there is thunder and lightning ...not cold but you get very wet going outside!! We had a look at the craft fair and made a few purchases, the went next door to have a look at the quilt show
I had a chuckle over this label...if you make one star a day you will have a quilt in a year!!! Yep good in theory....most of the EPP quilts on display had been WIPS for years.....kind of like mine!! Lol!!

Beautiful heirloom quilt with lace and doilies

quilts arranged over the pews in the Church

Might give someone some ideas for the shirt challenge.....maybe....just saying!!!

Loved this quilt....is a quilt as you go by Leesa Chandler if I remember correctly! Lol! Love the poppy fabric. There is also some Kiwi fabric in there which is very nice too.

Looking from the back to the front

Lovely colours here

Lone Star quilt started while the maker was in the US doing a course.
Was a lovely show to look at and good to see the explanations of how the quilts were made. Off home now for lunch.
Have a great day.
