Out and about

Well today I have been around to Port Arlington to the girls at Bellarine Quilters...today was one of their meet up days....I arrived about 10.30 and left about 2.35 ish, and in the middle of that wandered out to have a look at Patchwork and Rusty Pins the shop around the corner....who is having a 50% off sale! Yipee!! This is what I came out with
a beautiful candle...smells divine!!!, thread to try with the hexies as it is fine like silk thread...cottons for a wool pin cushion......a beautiful little tin....(I just liked it!!) a fat quarter that will be great for an Aussie Heros quilt  and a jelly roll just because it was half price, but it is lovely fabric and I have an idea for it! The sale goes for a few more weeks if anyone is interested.
There was show and tell at the Bellarine Quilters group today
this quilt was made from fabrics purchased on a trip to Canada...it is beautiful...pattern also was bought overseas...

this is the pattern from Mill Rose, made with Kaffe Fasset fabric...again just beautiful...I am inspired to make one now I have seen it in the flesh so to speak but think I will use batiks.....(one day)

and this one is the one you are doing I think Marg and Tracee.....another beautiful quilt top....
meanwhile I went back to my stitchery....but...
I spotted this dog down on the main street...quite liked him/her...

it is such a beautiful day,I had to go and have a look at the beach...the wharf is having work done on it so it looks like an industrial area at present....lots of people were sitting on the beach behind me...one lady was in her banana lounge chair reading her book...I so wanted to go and join her!! Lol!!
But I had to head home..I'd bought fish for dinner so best not to leave that in the car for too long!!
It was still very noisy when I got home......but....
the super shed is well on the way...one front panel and one back panel are now on and I think a window is in that hole...no doubt more will happen tomorrow.......
but while I was out and about at Port Arlington I spied this bag.....

....I resisted the bright red one.....I had a look, went away, then went back and bought it! Bit naughty but hey you only live once!!
I did a little stitching today
not far to go now, I hope to get it finished tonight.
Happy sewing.

Aussie Hero Quilt

The peace quilt is off in the mail today...I hope the recipient likes it
the request was for black and a peace sign so I think I covered that request!!

I spied a pelican flying towards me when I was down the beach today...love seeing then flying around, they look too heavy to glide like they do!
I am really pleased with my growing hexie pile that has happened over the last two weeks
I am joining the linky party  for EPP over at Anthea's....pop over for a hexie fix!!

Happy sewing!

FNSI and Saturday

Well I wasn't hugely productive for FNSI but a little bit now and then adds up.....so I tell myself anyway...I managed to get two more flowers done despite pushing the blunt end of the needle in to my finger twice...I really have to try and wear a thimble again... you can see what the other FNSI'ers got up to over  at Wendy's...thank you Wendy for being our lovely hostess once again.
two to add to the collection!
Today I went along to my first meeting of the Geelong Patchwork and Quilting Guild....a bit nervously I must admit, but I was put on a table with a group of very nice ladies and came away feeling happy after my day out. The speaker was  Gail Macklin from Gails Patchwork Emporium and it was interesting hearing her talk about how her business started and grew and sadly burnt down and then started up again. She is an entertaining speaker.
There was show and tell, ,the show and tell quilts are hung on the walls and you fill in a form to give the President any information about it...and she then presents the quilt during show and tell...very different from what I am used to! Here are some of the show and tell quilts
this quilt is made with Arkansas Crossroad blocks...and was birthday block swap...love the colours in this...

a cathedral windows quilt.....liked this one too...

the middle quilt was an exercise in texture, the other two something to do with the Rajah quilt????  That could be wrong...I can't remember now what they were. So much information to take in today!!!
And this is what I managed to get done in the day....the centres were already done so I worked on getting all the little sides sewn together. I have had a good day out,  only got lost once so that is a bonus, have been told about two quilt shops I didn't know about, another bonus but now I have to go and organise some dinner...not sure that is a bonus!!! Lol!!
Happy sewing.
