What a

wet Friday today has been!! We have had rain on and off all day, sometimes quite heavy rain!! So nice to be inside sewing and just watch out the window!!
miserable looking day!!

But  I am happy sewing away....

watching/listening to Love Actually....

Love Rowan Atkinson gift wrapping!!

I knew there was a good reason for having the island bench!!! Perfect for putting the layers of the quilt together!!! Just the right height so I am not bending!! Now for some quilting inspiration!!

In the meantime I have succumbed, and finished off a pin cushion...then I found some left  over squares, so what was I to do????
Happy sewing.

I have been

working away on this Aussie Hero quilt this afternoon, hubby has been helping me so I get the perspective right...now he has returned to his man cave!! Lol!!
You get a much better perspective from a photo than just looking at the quilt!!

now to sew down all the bits!!
Happy sewing.

Out and about and EPP

Today I have been to Sunbury and back.....and luckily I missed most of the storm that dropped all over Geelong!! Only a few spits of rain as I neared Corio.
storm clouds up ahead

here they are heading off towards Werribee and Point Cook
I heard 17 people were rescued from their cars during the flooding, not what you expect to hear in the city of Geelong!!
Today I posted of an Aussie hero quilt
the request was for waves and beach....I hope the recipient likes it! I also sent 6 knitted square blankets off to KOGO, they had been finished for a while, so I finally got them in the post. They will be off to new homes very soon.
When in Sunbury I snuck a photo of Karen's dog Zac....sound asleep in his bed...he is 4 months old, but...

the minute Karen turned on the hair dryer Zac was there on my knee, waiting for his turn!! He is a funny little boy, loves having his hair dried!! Lol!!

This week is link up time with Anthea over at Hibiscus Stitches...celebrating all things EPP over there...I am attaching 7 black hexie flowers to my hexie quilt, last night I sewed them on one side, tonight I need to sew on the other side.

and I have also been busy with some secret sewing...getting a little closer to a finish!! Yay!! Well it is G & T time for me I think, no storm damage here thank goodness!!!
Happy sewing.

I didn't take any photos there but each nearly completed their cushion. I finished one yesterday, one today and the baby needs it's final seam hand sewn closed.
Baby looks so small!!!

FNSI Results

.

After a slow start I got fired up last night and did a little quilting and tracing stitcheries from Gail Pans new book.

these ones I managed to get the fabric back to front so they are traced on the back!!!! Memo to self, so not do this at night!!!
Last night I started quilting the waves on this Aussie hero quilt, but then stopped and finished the binding on the Charm Square quilt, I completed the quilting this morning. Thank you to Wendy for hosting us you can have a look at Wendy's blog to see what others got up to! Off to tidy up this quilt and organise binding.
Happy sewing.

FNSI

Tonight is Friday Night Sew In and as I have just finished vacuuming I am running a bit behind!! I had big plans for today, but they have vanished in shopping for groceries for the weekend and then cooking, which is not like me, but all I can say, is that it has been raining all day and it is the ideal temp for the oven to be on!!
You can sign up over at Wendy's for an evening of virtual sewing group and then return over the weekend to see what people have been doing

today I have made some muesli, gluten free, with nuts and seeds and puffed rice and millet, some cranberries and dried apple and other goodies
the recipe came from Marg, it was in a magazine just before Christmas, Marg made it and I tasted it and now about six weeks after she gave me the recipe I have made it!! It makes heaps too, considering I will probably be eating it on my own as hubby doesn't do cereal for breakfast!

while I was at it I made another batch of these breakfast bars...hubby will eat these for breakfast!! Lol!! Mine never comes out golden like the picture though!!

bit of a dull day here today, rained pretty much all day..

but my day was brightened considerably when I found this in the letterbox!! Another wonderful Gail Pan Christmas designs book....might be doing some tracing tonight!! Many thanks to the wonderful Cheryl, who sent me a copy of this book from her place of work the Stawell Craft Shop.
Right I am off to peel potatoes.....yesterday I put a piece of corned beef in the crock pot and went off to sewing....when I finish with the crock pot I unplug it and don't alter the thermostat.....when I got back yesterday afternoon I couldn't smell dinner ....that was because the thermostat was turned off and nothing had happened!!! So guess what we are having for dinner tonight!! Lol!!
Happy sewing.

Happy sewing

has happened today over at the Port Arlington sewing group, the Bellarine Quilters. There was lots of beautiful show and tell, I only got a few photos
these lovely quilts with elephants, they started out as one quilt but got to big, so now are two!!

How cute are these teddies?

Guess who came to sewing group today????  Was lovely to see Shez and have a sit and natter and sew...we actually only got part of the day to chat as I was in the back room sandwiching a quilt. This group has a wonderful frame where you pin on the backing, pull it tight, then lay on the wadding and the top and then you can start pinning...when you have reached as far as you can, you wind up the pinned end, make sure all is tight and off you go again. Shez has taken a photo so can add that later, or you can see it on her blog.
Thank you Shez for the photos!! One happy quilter.

After we had finished I had a wander down to the shops and over the road

and down towards the beach...it was a bit dull then, the sun came out when I got back to the car.
I did a little more binding on the Charm Square Sampler...off to do some quilting now.
Happy sewing.

I have been

happily sewing away at home today
the photographer and surfers are sewn on the Aussie Hero quilt

the photos have been attached

I was laying out little white squares to create the look of a film strip...I was talking about this to Tracee last Saturday and another stitcher was listening in, she didn't know what a film strip was!!! She was in her early twenties and boy did I feel old!!!!!

late this afternoon I finished the sewing on the stars...the first strip on the Christmas Strip quilt challenge from the Seachange group.....we are getting one theme a month until October and then have until December to finish.
Once again today I was sewing happily and was late getting dinner, while it was cooking I ironed down the white squares, so they are ready for sewing tomorrow.
The next challenge is to turn the white fabric into mountains for snowboarding.  Sadly some of the white fabric has a bad dust line which I didn't notice earlier....will have to sort that out tomorrow too.
Happy sewing.

I have been

stitching happily today, this morning I went over to Barwon Heads and did some sewing with the Seachange group, it was lovely to meet some different ladies and to chat and sew. Once I got home I was motivated to make the binding for the Charm Square Sampler...something that has been waiting a while but is not on my to list this month!!! Maybe that is what I need to do....not put it on the list and then I will do it!!!! Some kind of crazy logic there!!! Anyway the binding is on and now the hand sewing begins,
Happily off to start the hand sewing now.
Happy sewing.

just need to add some side sashings and then start the sandwich.
Well had better go and cook some dinner or hubby will be complaining about his grumbling stomach!!
Happy sewing.

Woo Hoo!! Finishes!!

Last night I made this little Christmas decoration with the buttons I had found at the Melton shop...very happy to have done something with them and not just put them in the stash!!
just a simple deco but I am happy with it, I love the cheeky reindeer!! Strange I am happily into making decorations now Christmas is over!!!

this lovely stitchery by Michelle Ridgway.....is finished.....such a cute Teddy., now to decide what to do with it....

and today when at Guild meeting I finished this hexie block...had a couple of bits hanging off the edges but hopefully it will all work out when I attach it to it's backing.

And now I am doing the hand sewing of the binding on this little quilt. Hubby is cooking a BBQ tonight so I might just go do some more sewing on the binding!!
Happy sewing.

I have been

out and about and catching up with wonderful blogging people the last few days...I started off with lunch at Port Arlington with ShezJo and Lyn...we had lunch at the Old Bakery and found a table in their beautiful garden area at the back
I have pinched a photo from Jo's blog

Look at these two cheeky girls!!!

Jo's lunch!!! Lol!! No not really, just kidding!!

If nothing else we kept the waiter entertained!!!

Lyn with her lunch...

Guess who couldn't find a pole????Had to make do with a tree instead!! lol!!

I stayed the night with the wonderful Tracee.....just love the view out of the doors....evening light makes everything look softer...
The next morning we set off and collected Marg and then set off for Craigeburn to meet up with the City girls....

Elyte, myself, Marg, Marina, Clare (aka Sylvia) Jo, Robyn and Tracee.
We had a wonderful lunch at a cafe near the Craigeburn Lakes complex...it was sooooooo hot outside, but lovely inside...and we had wonderful food...when we went back to Tracees car to return to Marina's, the car temp said 46 deg C!!!!!!! Far TOO HOT!!!!

Back at Marina's in the cool house, Clare, Marina, Robyn and Elyte sewed on..

so did Tracee and Marg...

looks like serious conversation over there....Robyn, Elyte and Jo...we had a wonderful day...thank you so much Marina for organising the day!

On our drive home the weather started to change......but the cool took a long time to happen...I stayed at Tracee's again and had another yummy dinner and a couple too many G & T's!!! My excuse was it was a hot day!!! lol!!

Tracee's puppy Justice.....the puppies are 6 months old now.....he has been playing in the mud from the dam, so I took the photo from the window as I didn't want to get mudded!!!! Isn't he a handsome boy! My car had to go in for a service in Melton...so Tracee came with me, and took me to a wonderful fabric shop and some things were on special.....very hard to resist!!!
two panels, the flower one and the little girl one, some gray and green fabric and buttons...and a beautiful batik fabric for an Aussie hero quilt...

after the service was done I did some geocaching...there is a run of caches at the back of Melton based on Aussie sayings....this one was "Has rocks in the head"!!!  Was very entertaining for me!! Well I had better stop now or you will all be asleep!
Happy sewing.
